ALTINKUM
lies on the western coast of turkey surrounded by the agean sea.
Altinkum is one of the smaller resorts and by far the cheapest than
that of Bodrum, kusadasi. It boasts wonderful beaches that stretch
for miles with lovely golden sands and still turquoise blue water.
Infact altinkum means golden sands. The beaches are ideal for all
the family are gently sloping and safe for the kids. There are
plenty of snack bars for tea, coffee and cold soft drinks. Once on
the beach there is plenty for you to do.
If you like water sports try out the jet skies water skiing wind
surfing and the great banana boat rides or if you prefer just
sunbathing and watching the world go by.
As well as the beaches there are shops , bars, and restaurants all along
the beach area all ready to cater for your every need. There are
also jewellers boutiques and souvenir shops, oh and remember to
haggle it’s a tradition and can be fun.
Once the evening starts to close in your ready for the night life while
it’s not as loud as other Turkish resorts its still a great night
out. The night life is mainly in dolphin square as well as the other
bars along the seafront. You can try the karaoke bars, or join in
with the traditional belly dancers, play bingo etc. But what ever
you choose to do you will have a great night. In the summer season
we also have the Medusa open air night club. What more can you ask
for. Drinking and dancing to your favourite songs and looking at the
stars it’s a great night out and the club looks over the beach, how
fantastic.
There is also a lunar park (FUNFAIR) with great rides catering for all
ages. Maybe try your hand at the side stalls and win yourself a gift.
It’s a great day and the kids will love it. You can find the lunar
park between the harbour and third beach. Let your hair down and
enjoy.
Around a ten minute drive from altinkum you can find the aqua park.
It’s a whole day out were you can go on the different water slides
there is also one in kusadasi were your able to swim with dolphins.
It’s a great fun day for all the family.
Up and coming projects are a new marina now being constructed, which will
cater for all types of boats especially sailing boats will be
finished in 2009. Plans have also been submitted and accepted by the
local council to build golf courses in didim and surrounding areas.
So get your caddies ready and maybe we will see you at the 19th
hole.
There is a great Saturday markets were you can purchase a full range of
clothing including leather goods. Also, fresh produce, fresh fish,
and lots more all at a fraction of the price in the UK.
In between shopping how about trying a traditional Turkish pancake
and a glass of traditional çay (tea) sit down and take in the array
of colours and aromas of the spices
Of which there are many. Once again remember to haggle. You can get
there by dolmus(local bus service) or taxi or under your own steam
if you so wish. But I can assure you it will be a great and
enjoyable trip.
If you want to hire a car or mini bus so you can get out and about
there are many car hire firms or even mopeds you will need your
current driving licence to use these services and, NO1 TURKISH HOMES
CAN ARRANGE THIS FOR YOU IF YOU REQUIRE.
There are lots of places to visit of historical beauty in turkey,
pumakalle, Ephesus, priene, baffa lake, bodrum, kusadasi, and izmir
to name but a few. And right on our doorstep is Apollo temple. There
are good tour operators here for you to book your days out and are
very well priced. WE HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON
